Data Science Executive Recruiting FAQ
What Is a Data Science Executive Recruiter?
Many people ask me: What is a Data Science Executive Recruiter? In my opinion, a Data Science Executive Recruiter is a technical recruiter that specializes in recruiting for Data Scientists that are above the level of an individual contributor. Every company uses different titles, but I typically see executive-level data scientists with the following titles: Data Science Manager, Director of Data Science, Executive Director or Senior Director of Data Science, and then finally Head or VP of Data Science.
How Do I Find a Data Science Executive Recruiter?
Most Data Science Executive Recruiters are part of a technical recruitment company that also recruits for other technical roles such as software engineers, devops engineers, data scientists and data engineers. Many Data Science Executive Recruiters founded or lead a Data recruitment team within a technical recruitment firm. For example, at my company, Averity, we have a team that recruits for both Data Scientists and Data Engineers, and I specialize in Executive-level roles in Data Science.
What Is the Difference Between Data Science Recruiting and Analytics (Or AI) Recruiting?
All companies have their own unique titles they use to describe their staff. Currently most companies use the title Data Scientist to describe someone (or oversee a team or division) that is using advanced programming to build machine learning models for analytical purposes. Sometimes companies will use the title Advanced Analytics or AI to describe the same thing. Typically a role that has the title that simply uses the word Analytics tends to be a less technical role or one that is not utilizing machine learning models. Finally, that being said, all companies are different and some will use these terms together such as Data Science and Analytics or simply Analytics to mean Data Science.
