About Matt Stabile

Who is Matt Stabile?

World traveler, former lawyer, founder, public speaker and generally pretty nice guy, I have one trait that bind all of these titles: When I set out to accomplish something, I make sure it’s a success, and I have fun along the way.

Who am I in a nutshell? It’s hard, but I’ll give it a shot: I grew up in Colorado, graduated with a degree in Political Science from UConn, served as a White House Intern in 2002, graduated from Penn State Law School in 2006, practiced law in New York for over 7 years, founded the travel blog The Expeditioner and traveled to over 40 countries, and co-founded Averity in 2014 and helped it grow into the top technical recruiting firm in the country.

What’s next? I’m not sure, but if I live by one mantra, it can be summed up in this quote by Steve Jobs: “Your time is limited, don’t waste it living someone else’s life.”

“Matt was great to work with and truly showed why he is a leader in the Data Science recruitment space.”

— Manish nag, VP of Data + Insights, Engagement at The New York Times

Public Speaker

I am an accomplished and sought-after public speaker on the topics of data science recruiting, the job search process, and hiring the best engineering talent. I have presented at numerous conferences, symposiums and meetups, and am always looking for new opportunities to speak either as an individual or as a panel member.

I believe the number one rule of public speaking is to put yourself in the shoes of your audience. Do they want me to be there and are they finding value in what I am saying? I make sure my audience is engaged, interested and will leave my presentation with uniquely valuable information they will remember long after they heard me speak.
